Just one question: have you been in military service? If not, why are you an expert? Since when an someone who doesn't have any experience is an expert?
“Expert” when he’s never been to any wars let alone WW1 lol.
This something I noticed in All Quiet on the Western Front that has always confused me, near the beginning after paul wakes up and is dug out of the collapsed bunker in the morning after the barrage, how are people running all around the place outside of the trench? wouldnt they just be gunned down?
These videos are great, but sometimes it feels like: 🤓
I'd like to see you rate movies made by other countries such as Paschendale (Canada), Uomini Contro (Italy), and fighting outside Europe such as Gallipoli with Mel Gibson and Lawrence of Arabia
New Zealand troops were at gallipoli too hence Anzac - Australia New Zealand army corps
I love how we have a still frame of a lady flying through the air on a ww1 battlefield and the issue circled is a church tower way in the background
Wonder woman in WW1 ?!!
Can't take anything about this film seriously....
while 'All quiet on the western front' is not completely historically accurate, you can't deny it depicted the horrors of war rather well.
7:41 I swear that has to be a Minecraft sound effect
My great grandfather was a NZ troop at Gallipoli, he always said the initial part of the campaign was mainly unopposed. He once recalled that they took several hills that the Ottomans controlled completely unopposed, and the British ordered them to abandon the positions and retreat to hold a position further down the hill, only to be ordered to take it again day's later when it was more heavily fortified. When asked how he found it he would say "All and all, I enjoyed the war". I suppose that was his way of coping with it.
The most critical error by the Wonder Woman is why an invincible woman just spawns and kills innocent Germans and jumping 10 metres high.
I haven’t seen the 2022 All Quiet on the Western Front yet, looks like a good movie
I’m sorry but the gas mask fitting section might have even been purposeful too show that people didn’t always have time to think with bullets wizzing round your head. Maybe an expert on war but not an expert on human decision making it seems.
Shut up you weren’t there
Red Baron....pah! Were Fokker Triplanes all that the Germans flew in WW1? Because that is all we saw here. How about Fokker DIII, VII, and Albatross fighters? The Red Baron scored the majority of his kills in an Albatross fighter. This film additionally shows the Baron von Richtoffen advising the Kaiser. What utter garbage. An attempt to re-write history.
Some where ive got all quiet on the Eastern front. That is a sad movie. In the very last moments of WW1. A German soldier is killed by a sniper. The ending is quick. If he had kept his head down. He would have lived.
Finally one of these rating movies where the expert actually calls out inaccuracies and doesn’t give it the “oh well that’s Hollywood for you” pass. I want to know the accuracy, not how much you like the scene. More tough critics like this please.
I remember a story from a WW1 documentary were a veteran said at the start of the war he shot at other planes with a pistol because he didn't have a machine gun. He was told to fly out and find out what the other side was doing at the start of the war. He had a Pistol and some explosives. Apparently he threw dynamite out of his plane at trenches and buildings from high up. 😂 "anything that looked important I would throw explosives at it. I'm not sure how many hit, but I know I scared them." 🤣 Crazy old bastard. Gotta respect it. 💜
We know ditch guy, now this is trench guy 😂
Tracer rounds: war crime. Mustard gas? But of course
Incendiary bullets in tracers are different. You can shoot tracers at ground troops and it’s not a war crime.
Well, there is a hot woman jumping over the battlefield in a skimpy outfit. I doubt that was done often.
Source: Trust me bro
That mg42 IN Wonder woman
So we aint gonna talk about how we started out with Wonder Woman💀
love how they censored the gore scenes in all quiet on the western front... as if it wasn't so low budget it's basically pg
You call it a war crime, I call it a tactical advantage
until this video i forgot hollywood sent wonder woman to the trenches lmao
Good commentary but he misses the point of the tank scene on All Quiet on the Western Front. That scene was showing the FIRST time they encountered/used a tank so the tactics weren't developed yet.
Ah yes an expert because he was there.
wonder if this guy critiqued The Lost Battalion
he goes and recommends one of the most boring wwi films ever put to screen
“Experts” that were not there
Hey it doesn’t matter how historically accurate it is or isn’t just enjoy the movie
we feel your pain!...😁
You should watch dunkrik ❤
Only 50 casualties on either side on the Gallipoli landing. Spoken like a true Brit. It was YOUR officers that caused that catastrophe in the first place and when the Australian Officers questioned it, the Brits pulled rank (As it was their ships that the ANZAC's were on) and said this is the command from the First Lord of The Admiralty (none other than Winston Churchill) While most Australian and New Zealand Casualties happened in the days, weeks and months after the landing their was almost 1000 ANZAC casualties in the first couple of hours in the pre-dawn and dawn light. While I agree with everything else you have said and I too would have noticed how bad the trenches are in all these movies, your facts that there wouldn't have been more than 50 casualties on either side is ridiculous and you need to get your facts right. I have ancestors who were present at Gallipoli and even died on May 5th at Lone Pine and as an Australian take pride in what they achieved against insurmountable odds in what was in reality a British f*** up, while they went to a nice cozy beach and had tea and crumpets and sat around for a couple of days wondering where the Turks were.
Hey, Mr. Historian, how about you mention all the New Zealanders who died at Gallipoli (what do you think the NZ in ANZAC stands for?) Or maybe how it was the British that sent us Kiwis and Aussies on that suicide mission knowing it was never going to succeed? Or is that inconvenient for your narrative?
the expert could of mentioned New Zealand troops at Galipoli, only 6th (Hauraki) Company of the Auckland Infantry Battalion had lost 204 men on 25th on record
I think you'd be more interested in Battlefield 1 😅 I know Germans using French tank wouldn't be so realistic but it actually takes you to that atmosphere
Very entertaining host
6:34 no reason whatsoever for the french to use the weaponry at their disposal to fight the enemy
6:52 holy crap doom reference
“ experts on telling you what they read happened in ww2 “
I love how they first show a fictional movie lmfao
How is he an expert in war if he’s never been in one. The only experts are the ones who fought. This bum just read what they did and now he thinks he knows everything because he wrote 3 books. Look at him he would cry to his momma if he had to go to war.
Lol using Incendiary rounds is a warm crime so it just didn't happen. Hmmm I am gonna go ahead and doubt that. I would bet my life someone used incendiary rounds because it's war and screw that guy in the other trench after he just gassed my whole group of friends
Dude its wonder women. She has an invisible jet.😅
Love how he destroys the Netflix movie. 😂
